Every request, what it did, and what falls due next. Rows are ordered by the next live deadline, soonest first, with settled and unsent rows at the bottom. Days left is a live formula, so the colours move on their own each day the file is opened.

Response deadlineSection 10(1) FOIA and section 10(1) FOISA: a response is due promptly and no later than the twentieth working day after receipt.
Internal reviewSection 45 Code of Practice: an internal review should be completed within 20 working days of receipt and must not exceed 40 working days, the longer period being reserved for exceptional circumstances.
CommissionerThe Commissioner expects an internal review to have been given a reasonable chance to conclude, taken here as 20 working days, and expects a complaint within six weeks of the last substantive contact. That pair of dates is the window: after the first, before the second.

University of GlasgowScotland (FOISA)Service Request 94601917 Aug 202617 Aug 202614 Sep 202618 Sep 202616 Sep 202614 Sep 202613 Oct 2026Complete - new request sent for the contextual figurePartial response 16 September, outstanding widening participation response 18 September. Gave widening participation volumes and mean UCAT at interview and offer for 2025 entry, a notice that no decile or quartile distribution is held and that SJT bands are not used, and a notice that 2026 entry data was not held when the request was made.Await a reply to the fresh request of 19 September for the size of the graded contextual UCAT adjustment. Separately, check gla.ac.uk/schools/medicine/mus/admissions at the start of October: Glasgow states the complete 2026-27 dataset goes online at the end of September.01 Oct 2026YesThe contextual and widening participation data arrived on 18 September, three days before the date given. Glasgow has been among the most forthcoming of any school in this workbook. The single remaining gap is the size of the graded UCAT adjustment for verified widening participation applicants, which has been asked for twice and not given. The means disclosed show its effect even though its size is withheld: widening participation offer holders averaged 2612 against 2828 for home offer holders, on the 3600 scale. Update 19 September: the section 20 requirement for review was withdrawn in writing, as promised, and the one outstanding item, the size of the graded contextual UCAT adjustment, was put as a FRESH request rather than reviving the review. Nothing is outstanding on 946019 itself.
Aston UniversityEnglandFOI/2627/01317 Aug 202617 Aug 202615 Sep 202616 Sep 202615 Sep 2026Responded in fullFull response 16 September under FOI/2627/013, the day after the breach letter. Every question answered. Volumes, means, full quartile distributions and SJT band counts at both interview and offer, for both cycles, split home contextual, home non-contextual and overseas. Weighting given as 50 per cent academic, 25 per cent UCAT, 25 per cent MMI with no cut-off. Full GCSE points scheme. Contextual mechanics and place numbers. The most complete response received in this campaign.Nothing outstanding. Review window 40 working days from 16 September if ever neededYesBreach of sections 1(1) and 10(1), no section 17 notice. Named contact Lote Puske, Paralegal. OfS records Aston at 110 places, all home, so question 7 is answerable from a public source and any future section 43 claim on places is weak. Deadline set at seven calendar days rather than the end of the month because applicants must fix their four choices while schools still have time to write references.
Brunel University LondonEngland4309, internal review 435017 Aug 202619 Aug 202615 Sep 202618 Sep 202615 Sep 202619 Sep 202616 Oct 2026Internal review acknowledgedPartial. Gave the 2025 entry application, interview, offer and enrolment figures for home and international applicants, 53 home funded places and a 115 international target, and confirmed that GCSEs are not scored, that ranking is on the total UCAT alone, that only SJT band 4 is excluded and that contextual applicants get a 5 per cent UCAT uplift. Refused the UCAT mean, the distribution and the SJT band counts under section 43. Said the 2026 entry figures are not yet finalised.Letter sent asking for the review by Friday 2 October rather than 19 October, in part if not in full, and asking for a plain answer now if that is not possible. Drafted 22 September: 'Brunel 4350 - asking again for 2 October.md'.02 Oct 202610YesResponse arrived 18 September, three working days after the date Brunel itself set in writing on 19 August. Internal review requested 19 September. The refusal has several faults: it says the public interest test is set out below when no factor appears on either side; it cites section 43(3), which is the duty to confirm or deny, in one place and 43(2) in two others; the only reason given anywhere is that candidates and competitors might adjust their strategies "such that it might result in unfair influence", which is not a commercial interest; it says there is no set cut-off and then that the cut off score varies year on year; and it says the offer does not depend on the UCAT at all but on the MMI, which undercuts the case for withholding historic UCAT figures. Cycle B was neither answered nor refused. The answer to question 4 stops mid sentence. Update 22 September: Brunel acknowledged the internal review on 22 September under a new reference, 4350, and states the response is due by 19 October 2026 at the latest. That is later than the 2 October date asked for and later than the twenty working day date of 16 October. Worth one line back accepting 19 October but repeating that anything after the UCAS deadline of 15 October changes nothing for this cycle's applicants. The 19 October date falls four days after the UCAS deadline of 15 October, so on Brunel's own timetable the review reaches no applicant in this cycle whatever it decides. The letter of 22 September makes that point without pressing the exemption again, and asks in the alternative for the interview and offer counts alone, which are already derivable from what Brunel released and need no reconsideration of section 43.
Keele UniversityEnglandFOI/2526/24417 Aug 202617 Aug 202615 Sep 202615 Sep 2026In breach - section 50 complaint drafted, ready to sendNo response of any kind. Four automatically generated emails in total: receipt 17 August, an identical one to the chaser on 11 September, and two more on 15 September at 19:25 in reply to the breach letter, one from foi@keele.ac.uk signed Legal, Governance and Compliance Team and one from dpo@keele.ac.uk signed Legal and Information Compliance Team. No reference number, no named officer, no human contact at any point. The dpo auto-reply sets out service standards for data breaches (72 hours), advice (14 days), DPIAs (one month), personal data requests and personal data complaints (one month) and says nothing at all about freedom of information.Send the section 50 complaint to the Commissioner. Letter drafted 22 September: 'ICO - Keele University, FOI-2526-244.md'. Withdraw it if the University answers first.23 Sep 20261NoBreach of sections 1(1), 10(1) and 17. The aggravating fact for the Commissioner is that twenty working days plus a chaser plus a breach letter have produced nothing but four machine replies. Both mailboxes are monitored by autoresponders, so the address is live and the team exists: the two 19:25 replies are signed by a named team. No internal review will be requested - where there has been no response at all there is nothing to review. Update: Keele replied on 18 September, after the breach letter, apologising that the reply is not finalised, confirming the request is still being processed and issuing reference FOI/2526/244. No date was given. Answered 19 September. No ICO application was made, so the breach letter deadline of 18 September has passed without action. 22 September: a section 50 complaint has been drafted. The grounds are the same in all three: no information, no statement of what is held and no refusal notice by the twentieth working day, which fell on 15 September 2026. The complaint says that if the Commissioner would prefer an internal review to be sought first it will be done at once.
University of BirminghamEngland2026.08.242917 Aug 202617 Aug 202615 Sep 202615 Sep 202616 Sep 202614 Oct 2026Internal review requestedRefused all seven questions under section 21, reasonably accessible by other means, with links to the published MBChB and BDS admissions statistics and the selection for interview pages. No figures supplied in the response itself. No commercial or future publication exemption claimed. Internal review requested 16 September setting out eleven elements the cited pages do not contain, conceding the four that section 21 properly covers. A reply was asked for by 29 September. The same email also made a NEW request, for the cycle closing October 2026: place numbers, threshold or ranking, component weighting, scoring matrix, GCSE points scheme and any contextual reduction.Review due 14 October under the section 45 Code, asked for by 29 September. The separate request for the cycle closing October 2026 was acknowledged 17 September under its own reference 2026.09.2481 and is due 14 October.29 Sep 20267YesSection 21 is absolute, so there is no public interest test - the only question is whether the information really is accessible. Checked on 15 September. It holds for a good deal: the UCAT decile to points matrix, the GCSE scheme of seven subjects scored 4 / 2 / 1 scaled to 4.5, the 45 / 40 / 15 weighting, six cycles of medicine volumes and interview stage UCAT, eight cycles of dentistry volumes, and place numbers. It fails on six specific elements. First and most important, September 2026 entry is not published for medicine at all, while Birmingham HAS published September 2026 entry dentistry figures - so the cycle is not inherently unavailable. Second, no decile or quartile distribution of applicants is published for either subject; publishing a decile to points conversion is a different thing. Third, no SJT band counts, although Birmingham confirms it uses the band at interview and therefore holds it. Fourth, no offer stage UCAT for medicine, only interview stage, although dentistry publishes both. Fifth, no acceptances for dentistry. Sixth, no number of places on the contextual route. Also worth noting the medicine document never states the scale maximum despite the request asking for it, while the dentistry document does flag the change expressly. Birmingham dates the request 15 August; it was sent on 17 August. Internal review window 40 working days, to 10 November 2026.
University of CambridgeEnglandFOI-2026-78517 Aug 202617 Aug 202615 Sep 202614 Sep 202614 Sep 202614 Sep 202612 Oct 2026Internal review acknowledgedSubstantive on the UCAT. Minimum, mean and maximum total cognitive score and every subtest, for A100 and A101, at applicant and offer-holder stage, split home and international, for the 2025 apply year. Volumes refused under section 21 and directed to the published dashboard. Interview data not held centrally because each College is a separate public authority. No contextual offers are used. Only one of the two cycles requested was supplied.Await the review, due on or before 12 October. If the Cycle B figures are still not given, the Commissioner window opens on 12 October.12 Oct 202620YesThe most useful single figure of the campaign so far: the lowest home A100 offer holder scored 2440 of 3600, on the fourth decile of the 2024 test cycle, against a home offer holder mean of 3081. Cambridge states plainly that there is no minimum threshold. Volumes have now been taken from the dashboard Cambridge cited and are on the detail tab. Two defects confirmed by checking that dashboard on 14 September. First, with Course set to Medicine the Apply Year filter stops at 2025, so the September 2026 entry figures are not reasonably accessible and section 21 cannot reach them - yet Cambridge supplied no data, named no exemption and issued no refusal notice for that cycle, which section 17(1) requires within twenty working days. Second, the dashboard carries applications, offers and acceptances only and has no interview measure, so question 1(b) was answered under section 21 when the correct answer was section 1(1)(a), not held. Interview data at Cambridge sits with the individual Colleges, each its own public authority. Internal review window 40 working days, to 9 November 2026. The follow-up threatens an internal review rather than requesting one, so no review is running yet and 24 September is the trigger date. The three live points are: no figures and no refusal notice for the October 2025 cycle, so neither section 1(1) nor section 17(1) is met as to that cycle; section 21 cannot reach it because the published dashboard stops at apply year 2025; and section 21 cannot cover question 1(b) at all because the dashboard carries no interview measure. Three specific yes or no questions were put on whether interview status is held centrally, resting on section 3(2)(b) and on the Winter Pool and Summer Pool figures the University itself publishes. Update 21 September: Cambridge acknowledged an internal review of FOI-2026-785 and will respond on or before 12 October 2026. It appears to have treated the follow-up of 14 September as the review request, so the 24 September deadline in that letter is overtaken.
University of East AngliaEnglandFOI_26-18217 Aug 202619 Aug 202615 Sep 202621 Sep 202615 Sep 2026Responded in fullAnswered every question. Volumes by fee status for both cycles on A100 and A101, means, quartiles and SJT band counts at interview and at offer, the selection method (ranked, 100 per cent UCAT, no matrix, no GCSE points, no contextual adjustment), and place numbers. Confirmed A200 dentistry is not held under section 1(1)(a) because the course starts in 2027, but gave its place numbers anyway: 25 home and 11 international.Nothing outstanding. Two small points could be put back informally: the scale was not stated for either cycle despite the request asking, and no lowest score is held, only quartiles. Neither is worth a review.YesOne of the most complete responses of the campaign. UEA holds no standard or contextual split at all, which is itself the answer to question 6. The two cycles are on different scales and the figures make that unambiguous: 2025 entry on 3600, 2026 entry on 2700. A200 dentistry is a new course opening for 2027 entry.
University of KentEnglandFOI260817b17 Aug 202617 Aug 202615 Sep 202615 Sep 2026Section 10(3) extension claimed - challengedNotice at 16:15 on 15 September, the deadline day, extending time under section 10(3) to consider the public interest in section 43. The notice does not say which questions or which parts of them section 43 is claimed over, and gives no date under section 17(2).Challenge sent 15 September 18:37 requiring the scope of section 43, release of everything outside it by 23 September and a date rather than an aim. If not met, internal review and section 50 application23 Sep 20261NoSection 10(3) can only extend time for information a qualified exemption is actually claimed over, so an unscoped claim cannot extend the whole request: the twenty working days expired on 15 September as to everything else. Section 43 is pressed as unarguable on all seven questions, not just the criteria ones - both cycles are closed, intakes are capped, and OfS records Kent and Canterbury Christ Church at 109 places, all home, so there is no uncapped overseas intake to protect.
Newcastle UniversityEnglandFOI 2608-2718 Aug 202619 Aug 202617 Sep 202618 Sep 2026Complete for 2025 entry - 2026 entry refused on a bad groundFull 2025 entry disclosure for A100 and A101: volumes by fee status and by standard or contextual route, and the mean, highest and lowest total cognitive UCAT with SJT band counts at BOTH the interview and the offer stage. Confirmed no fixed threshold, all applicants ranked, contextual and non-contextual pooled separately, band 4 not accepted, no decile or quartile distribution held. Places about 343 home and 26 international a year, rolling over five years. The 2025 entry Admissions Policy was attached. Groups of fewer than five withheld under section 40(2) and 40(3A)(a).Put 2026 entry back to them. Newcastle refused it saying the cycle is still in progress because UCAS does not close until October - that is the 2027 entry cycle. The October 2025 deadline cycle is complete. Also ask whether the A101 offer-stage table is genuinely identical to the interview table or was duplicated in error.25 Sep 20263YesRead into the workbook 22 September. Newcastle's own caveat matters and is recorded on the tab: waivers and exceptions can be applied at the admissions team's discretion, and the scores held are the applicant's original values, so the lowest figures describe who was admitted rather than a bar. The contextual route is worth about 120 points of raw UCAT on the old scale at both stages, roughly a decile. Every mean except the contextual ones converts to above the 9th decile.
University of LiverpoolEnglandFOI/2627/02018 Aug 202619 Aug 202616 Sep 202614 Sep 202616 Sep 2026Responded - reconsideration requested, review reservedFull response 14 September at 08:00, two working days ahead of their own deadline. Section 43(2) claimed over the September 2026 entry figures only. Follow-up of 14 September asked for a reply within ten working days but the date itself was missing. A letter naming Wednesday 23 September was sent 16 September at 18:58 to foi@liverpool.ac.uk, addressed to Mr Corvo, on the existing thread.Await the September 2026 entry information, or a decision on it, by Wednesday 23 September. If nothing arrives, request an internal review of the section 43(2) refusal. Also still outstanding: whether the selection method described applied to the September 2025 cycle, the A101 place number for that cycle, and what the A100 'offers accepted' line counts.23 Sep 20261YesContact Gaige Corvo, Solicitor, Data Protection Officer and Freedom of Information Manager, g.corvo@liverpool.ac.uk. The follow-up of 14 September raises three points on the 2025 data, that the selection method described is drawn from Entry 2027 material rather than the cycle supplied, the A101 place number for 2025 entry, and what "offers accepted" counts, then asks the University to reconsider the section 43(2) refusal rather than requesting a review. The reply date was omitted from the sent letter and was confirmed separately as 28 September 2026, ten working days from 14 September. The arguments put against section 43(2): both relevant cycles are closed to new applicants so no competitor can act on the figures and no applicant can gain an advantage; late vacancies are filled from candidates the University has already interviewed; the University's own section 16 advice accepts the figures become available from October 2026, so only timing is in issue; and the stated factor about the lifting of the cap on university places in England does not apply, because medicine and dentistry remained capped. A narrower fallback was offered: minimum UCAT at interview, minimum at offer, and the lowest band from which anyone was shortlisted.
University of NottinghamEngland466364518 Aug 202621 Aug 202616 Sep 202617 Sep 2026In breach - reply sent asking for a partial releaseAcknowledged 21 August as 4663645. Update 16 September at 15:55 from Kyle Hopkins, Information Compliance Officer: the response is being finalised but internal clarification is being sought on the figures. No exemption claimed, no notice under section 17 and no date offered. The twenty working days expired on 16 September.Reply sent 17 September asking for whatever is ready now and the remainder by Wednesday 23 September. Also told them that Lincoln's refusal of 17 September says Lincoln Medical School is administered through Nottingham, that the October 2024 cycle students are Nottingham students, and that the data for that cycle is held by Nottingham and "will be included in their response". Asked them to confirm if they do not hold it, so the cycle does not fall between the two universities.23 Sep 20261NoCarries Lincoln Medical School 2025 entry data as well as Nottingham's own. If Nottingham denies holding it, both denials are on record and the point goes back to Lincoln's review.
University of OxfordEnglandFOI/202608/91618 Aug 202619 Aug 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 202617 Sep 202615 Oct 202612 Nov 202615 Oct 2026Internal review requestedFull response 16 September with a workbook: volumes, UCAT averages and percentiles at shortlist and offer, and SJT band counts, for A100 and A101. No exemption claimed anywhere. Entry 2026 missing, because Oxford labels cycles by year of entry and the request labelled them by UCAS deadline. Points 4 and 5 answered by two web links that do not contain the weighting, the scoring matrix or the GCSE points scheme. Point 6 answered substantively: no separate contextual route, contextual data considered for all UK applicants. Point 7 answered: no strict place quotas.Internal review sent 17 September 13:22. Oxford replied at 14:11 that they will not run a new request and a review in parallel but will cross-reference. Confirm the review is the one to proceed, since it preserves the 18 August request date and is the only route to the Commissioner. Asked for the missing year by 23 September, with the review withdrawn if it arrives. Also asked whether figures can be split by contextual flag.23 Sep 20261YesOxford used the BMAT until 2025, so entry 2025 is the only year of UCAT data that exists and the missing year doubles what is held. Oxford corrected their own wording on 17 September: "correct cycle" should have read "current cycle". Their Guide sheet defines UCAS Cycle 2025 as entry in 2025, which settles the labelling.
University of PlymouthEnglandFOI0174/202618 Aug 202620 Aug 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 2026Responded - follow-up sent, four points outstandingResponse 16 September, FOI0174/2026. Gave UCAT thresholds by course, cycle and fee group including widening access, the volumes for A100, A102 and A206, the contextual A level offer, and confirmation that nothing is scored or weighted. Did NOT answer question 2 at all, gave no notice on it, answered question 3 only as not held in that format, and answered question 7 on places with "we are unable to provide this information at present" with no exemption and no section 17 notice.Follow-up sent 16 September 18:45 to freedomofinformation@plymouth.ac.uk on four points: question 2 wholly unanswered with no section 17 notice, question 3 answered only as not held 'in the above format', question 7 answered with 'unable to provide at present' and no exemption claimed, and two unexplained notations ('2120 + A-star' and the bracketed figures such as '2690 (S4)'). Internal review threatened for 23 September.23 Sep 20261Yes
University of SheffieldEnglandNone issued18 Aug 202618 Aug 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 202616 Sep 2026Responded - follow-up sent, four points outstandingResponse 16 September at 16:00 with a workbook covering entry 2025 only. Volumes, mean UCAT at interview and offer split home, international and contextual, SJT band counts, GCSE requirements, places and the 2430 minimum threshold. Entry 2026 not supplied and not refused. For the decile distribution Sheffield linked to the UCAT Consortium national statistics rather than its own applicants.Follow-up sent 16 September 18:43 to foi@sheffield.ac.uk on four points: dentistry not answered at all, the October 2025 cycle not answered at all, section 21 wrongly used for the applicant score distribution by citing the UCAT Consortium's national page, and the widening access pages cited without giving the contextual threshold reduction or place allocation. Internal review threatened for 23 September.23 Sep 20261Yes
University of SouthamptonEnglandF-26-026618 Aug 202626 Aug 202617 Sep 202618 Sep 2026Complete - one minor point outstandingFull response received 18 September, one working day after the deadline of 17 September. Gave UCAT cut-offs by entry year and applicant group for BM5 and BM4, application, interview and offer volumes for BM5, BM4 and BM6, and places for all three. States it holds no mean, no distribution and no SJT counts because only the combined total score is used, and that it cannot break the application stage down by fee status or route because it never reviews the applications it does not need.Only one thing left, and it is minor: Southampton never stated the scale maximum for each figure, though the 2025 and 2026 numbers make it obvious. The other two follow-up questions are already answered in the response itself - it says in terms that the cut-off IS the last person invited to interview, and that the UCAT was not previously used to rank for BM6.YesThe cut-off is defined by Southampton as the score of the last person invited to interview, so these figures double as the lowest score interviewed, which almost no other school gives. The contextual concession narrowed from about 80 points for 2025 entry to 30 points for 2026 entry on the same scale. Correction 22 September: this response was already read into the workbook. The follow-up listed here was largely answered inside the response itself.
University of SunderlandEnglandFOI2627-08-1018 Aug 202619 Aug 202617 Sep 202618 Sep 2026Complete - the fullest disclosure of the campaignEverything asked for, both cycles, nothing withheld. Volumes split contextual and non-contextual at all four stages; mean total cognitive UCAT at interview AND at offer for both groups; SJT band counts at both stages; and the FULL score-by-score distribution of every applicant interviewed and every applicant offered, in ten-point steps, for both cycles. Confirmed a fixed threshold of the top eight deciles plus SJT band 1 to 3, with no weighting and no scoring matrix, and that contextual applicants get NO UCAT reduction - only a lower grade offer after a successful interview. Home applicants only, cap 117.Nothing outstanding.YesRead into the workbook 22 September. Two findings worth carrying into other requests. First, Sunderland released a full score-by-score distribution without hesitation, which is the direct answer to every school claiming a distribution is commercially sensitive or not held in a usable form. Second, contextual applicants hold a HIGHER mean UCAT than everyone else at both stages in both years, because the contextual route gives no UCAT concession at all. That is a finding for the contextual tab, not just this row.
University of Central LancashireEnglandFOI 397219 Aug 202624 Aug 202617 Sep 202617 Sep 2026In breach - section 50 complaint drafted, ready to sendNo response of any kind. Acknowledged 24 August, confirmed on 11 September that it would be reviewed. No reference number has ever been issued.Send the section 50 complaint to the Commissioner. Letter drafted 22 September: 'ICO - University of Central Lancashire, FOI 3972.md'. Withdraw it if the University answers first.23 Sep 20261NoTwentieth working day was 17 September, the request having been received within working hours on 19 August. The letter was timed to go before the period expired rather than after it, so the University was given every hour it was entitled to. No reference number was ever issued, which is itself a section 16 point if this reaches the Commissioner. Two earlier FOI responses, refs FOI 3920 (29 July 2026) and FOI 3962 (20 August 2026), are on WhatDoTheyKnow and give the 2024 and 2025 entry figures: lowest home non-contextual 2400 and lowest contextual 2170 for 2025 entry, average 2545, on the 3600 scale; 646 home applications, 230 interviews, 89 offers, 56 places. They also state that no weighting at all is given to academic qualifications, that the personal statement is not scored before interview, and that widening participation applicants get a 10% uplift on the UCAT total. Our own request covers the 2026 cycle, which those responses say was still open. Update 18 September: a reference, FOI 3972, was finally given. The email raises the appropriate limit but issues no section 12 notice and gives no estimate, so there is nothing to test. The breach letter deadline of 18 September passed with only this holding message. 22 September: a section 50 complaint has been drafted. The grounds are the same in all three: no information, no statement of what is held and no refusal notice by the twentieth working day, which fell on 17 September 2026. The complaint says that if the Commissioner would prefer an internal review to be sought first it will be done at once.

Withdraw it if the University answers first.23 Sep 20261NoMilder case than the rest of the sweep. They wrote on the due date rather than going silent, and they did exactly what they said they would on 14 September. The failing is the open ended "as soon as we can" with no date attached.

The section 21 claim is sound for what the FAQ contains, and the FAQ is substantial: UCAT 1960 standard and 1910 contextual, GAMSAT 59 and 53, and applications, interviews, offers and places for both cycles. It does not contain the lowest or average UCAT, anything about the SJT, or what narrows 832 applicants to 279 interviews above the threshold, so section 21 cannot reach those. Section 22 was asserted with no public interest balance and no publication date. Imperial calls the course A101 in its covering email; the published FAQ calls it A102.

The 28 October date they have given themselves is beyond the 40 working day maximum, which is itself the argument for going to the ICO as soon as the window opens. The ICO complaint is already drafted and ready to send.

Mean UCAT at interview and at offer for home, international and contextual, both cycles. Full decile distributions of their own interviewed applicants, both cycles, both courses. SJT band counts by group. The scoring matrix released in full: UCAT decile converted to marks, 3 to 60 for medicine and 1 to 10 for dentistry. No GCSE scoring. Ranked, no threshold. Places for both cycles. Question 1 answered by pointing to their own published admissions pages. Two small points worth asking: what decides which of the two marks a decile attracts on medicine, and whether the 2026 offers accepted figure can follow once the cycle closes. Everything else is complete and entered.YesOne of the three best responses of the campaign, alongside Cardiff and Anglia Ruskin. Aberdeen also interviews SJT band 4 in every group and both cycles, which most schools reject outright. Their medicine first decile for 2026 entry starts at 1100, the lowest score interviewed anywhere in this workbook. Dentistry A201 has no contextual reduction at all, yet its entire bottom decile sits below the 1st national decile.

The Qualified Person was the Vice-Chancellor. It released application, interview and offer volumes each time but no scores. Its own Understanding UCAT page says it publishes a table of the lowest scores shortlisted for 2024 and 2025 entry, which sits awkwardly beside three refusals of the same class of information. That contradiction is the point to press if this one is refused too. Update 17 September: the table does exist on the Understanding UCAT page and has now been read. For 2026 entry, on the 2700 scale, the lowest shortlisted scores were medicine 1900 UK, 1810 widening participation, 2020 international; Gateway Year 1610 widening participation; dentistry 1720 UK, 1590 widening participation, 1740 international. Leeds began using the UCAT for 2024 entry, so there is no earlier series.

The review letter narrows the request and separates the seven questions, so a full refusal on review would be hard to sustain. Checked again 22 September. FOI3588 discloses no figure at all and says nothing about the selection method: it refuses the whole request under section 43(2). The description of ranking held on the Bangor tab therefore comes from Bangor's published pages, not from this response, and the tab should not attribute it to the FOI.

Answered 8 September, confirming firm acceptances. Nothing further received since.Await the response06 Oct 202614NoNot a pause but a statutory restart. Section 10(6)(b) provides that where section 1(3) clarification is sought, the date of receipt becomes the day the further information is received, so a fresh twenty working days runs from 8 September and expires on 6 October 2026. UCL is not late until then. Correspondence comes through the MyServices portal as Request #3235013, from myservices-noreply@ucl.ac.uk, which reads like a no-reply notification and is easy to overlook: replies go to myservices-update@ucl.ac.uk, not to foi@ucl.ac.uk. UCL asked a sensible question rather than refusing for ambiguity, which is a good sign for the substantive response, but 6 October leaves very little room before the UCAS deadline.

Further substantive reply 16 September at 14:53 from Faye Singh giving SJT band counts at interview and at offer for both cycles, and contextual route volumes for both cycles. Confirmed the University holds only the overall UCAT score in its database, does not hold subsection or total cognitive scores against outcomes, and calculates no distributions or deciles. Two small points remain: the section 22 publication date for 2026 entry offers, and confirmation that the published mean is the overall UCAT rather than the total cognitive score. The published statistics documents have now been retrieved and entered for 2022, 2024 and 2026 entry, A100 and A199, so nothing else is outstanding.06 Oct 202614YesTwo reference numbers appear on one request: acknowledged as F4662, answered as F4665. Worth quoting both in any escalation. Follow-up sent 8 September for the missing mean and distribution at interview and offer stage, the contextual split, and the expected publication date for the withheld 2026 figures.
University of BristolEnglandFOI2627-02317 Aug 202615 Sep 202608 Sep 202609 Sep 2026Responded - follow-up sentSubstantive. Questions 1, 2, 3 and 6 supplied as a spreadsheet attachment. Questions 4 and 5 refused under section 21, pointing at the published admissions statement. Question 7 answered in the body: 251 home places, 19 overseas.Await the reply to the follow-up07 Oct 202615YesData entered. Three problems found on checking: only one of the two cycles requested was supplied (the figures are labelled 24/25 and 25/26 and are entirely on the 3600 scale, so entry September 2026 is absent); the offer-stage contextual table duplicates the interview-stage one; and the 24/25 home mean of 2935 sits below its own lower quartile of 2940. Interview counts are attendees, not invitations, which Bristol does not hold. Bristol replied on 10 September conceding the missing element and applying section 43(2) to the September 2026 entry figures, saying they will be available from December 2026. That refusal describes September 2026 as 'the current admissions cycle' and rests on prejudice arising 'before the end of the admissions cycle' - but that cycle closed in October 2025 and those students have already enrolled. The remaining eight points are still with their data and admissions teams.

Two queries outstanding: the decile tables run 1 to 9 and sum to 100 per cent with no tenth band, and a single undated set of figures was supplied where two cycles were asked for - the 3600 scale places it at entry September 2025. Exeter also says 26/27 data will not be available until March 2027. The clarification sent 9 September was opened as a new reference, FOI26-0333, acknowledged 10 September, and Exeter has confirmed the clock restarts from that date.

Questions 1 to 3 under section 22 (future publication) with no date given. Questions 4 to 7 under section 43(2), including the number of funded places. Parts of questions 6 and 7 under section 21. King's confirms the information is held.Chase the review, then complain to the Commissioner once the window opens08 Oct 202616PartlyThe most comprehensive refusal of the campaign, and from a large London school. The section 43 case rests on applicants reverse engineering the method and on competitors copying it - both answerable now that Exeter publishes its complete scoring matrix as a public PDF and Cardiff, Newcastle, Lincoln and Hull York publish theirs. King's allows 60 days for a review, longer than most. Separately, King's FOI 649.24 on WhatDoTheyKnow holds a 2022 to 2024 UCAT series as a spreadsheet attachment still to be downloaded. NEW, 14 September: King's has disclosed these same categories before. Response 604.24 of 17 September 2024 on WhatDoTheyKnow gives UCAS cycle 2023 - 3433 applications, 1115 invited to interview, lowest UCAT at interview 2470, mean 2997, lowest offer holder 2470, highest 3480, plus 310 unconditional offers on achieved grades and 6 deferred entries. An earlier response gives 2019 and 2020 entry - lowest UCAT at interview 2450 and 2400, interviews 1040 and 1122, offers 867 and 764, firm acceptances 452 and 386, enrolments 318 and 338. Both describe no UCAT cut-off, ranking on UCAT and SJT with improvement for GCSE A-stars and for widening participation flags, and confirm every flagged application was reviewed before rejection. This is the centrepiece of the internal review: King's has twice released to other requesters what it has refused here under sections 22 and 43(2), and the lowest interview score moved only 70 points across four years.
University of EdinburghScotland (FOISA)FOI2026/0062717 Aug 202618 Aug 202614 Sep 202611 Sep 202611 Sep 202612 Oct 202606 Nov 202609 Oct 202623 Oct 2026Internal reviewSubstantive, issued three working days early. UCAT cut-offs given for both cycles (2450 of 3600 for 2025 entry, 1650 of 2700 for 2026 entry), contextual UCAT means and quartiles, contextual SJT band counts, the Plus Flag and Flag mechanics and the 25 extra SIMD20 places. Questions 1 to 3 for the 2026 entry cycle refused under section 33(1)(b) as a live cycle. The scoring matrix and academic points scheme refused under sections 30(c) and 33(1)(b).Await the review outcome, due 12 October. Chase on the day if nothing arrives - it is the last date in the campaign that can still beat the 15 October UCAS deadline12 Oct 202620YesThe best response of the campaign after Cardiff, and the only one to publish a hard UCAT cut-off for both cycles. Requirement for review sent 11 September under section 20, deliberately narrowed to the scoring matrix alone: the live-cycle refusal of questions 1 to 3 was conceded because Edinburgh has undertaken in writing to supply those figures once the cycle closes in late October, which is worth quoting against any section 22 refusal that gives no date. The matrix refusal is weak - Cardiff publishes its decile-to-points and GCSE-to-points conversions openly, Aberdeen publishes the same SIMD uplift mechanism within Scotland, and Edinburgh's own letter confirms the SFC fixes intake for every fee group, so no competitor's numbers can move. Edinburgh scores UCAT by decile, so the withheld matrix is a ten-row table. Diary: write again in the first week of November for the 2026 entry volumes and UCAT figures. Review acknowledged: Edinburgh will reply by 12 October 2026. That is correct under FOISA section 21(1) - the requirement was sent at 18:27 on Friday 11 September, outside office hours, so receipt counts from Monday 14 September and the twentieth working day is Monday 12 October. Note the timing: 12 October falls three days before the 15 October UCAS deadline, so a release of the scoring matrix on review would still reach this cycle's applicants. Any slippage means it does not. The separate 2026 entry volumes, promised after the cycle closes in late October, fall the wrong side of that deadline whatever happens.

Question 1, the application volumes, refused under section 43(2).Await the review. Anglia Ruskin says there is no statutory timescale but that its practice is to complete within twenty working days, which takes it to 20 October. The separate ask, to confirm the interview and offer counts already derivable from the SJT tables, has not been answered.20 Oct 202628YesThe fullest UCAT disclosure of the campaign. Their section 43(2) reasoning is almost word for word Bangor's and Chester's, which is useful: Anglia Ruskin has released the granular distributions those two called commercially sensitive and withheld only the bare counts. Worth quoting in both internal reviews. An internal review on question 1 alone is arguable but low priority given how much was released. 22 September: the review was acknowledged under a new reference, FOI 3927. Anglia Ruskin states there is no statutory timescale for a review and that its practice is twenty working days. The request to confirm the interview and offer counts separately, which needs no reconsideration of the exemption, was not addressed in the acknowledgement.
Brighton and Sussex Medical SchoolEnglandFOI 420217 Aug 202618 Aug 202615 Sep 202601 Sep 2026CompleteFull response covering the BM BS: six years of application, interview, offer and enrolment volumes, complete UCAT figures at applied, interviewed and offered stages for both UCAT cycles, and the school leaver and graduate split.Nothing outstandingYesAll three attachments now entered. One inconsistency worth noting: for 2026 entry the school leaver and graduate application figures (1383 and 88) do not sum to the stated total of 1637, so a third group is present but unidentified. Not worth a follow-up on its own, but worth raising if anything else needs asking. QUERY TO PUT TO BSMS: the 2026 entry table gives the lowest home standard applicant interviewed as 1560 and the lowest home standard applicant offered as 1340. An offer cannot precede an interview, so one of the two is wrong, and 1340 also appears as the lowest applicant figure for both home standard and home contextual. Ask which is correct before either is published.

No figures supplied.Internal review requested 17 September, asking for completion by Friday 2 October rather than the 20 working day date of 16 October, which falls after the UCAS deadline. If the exemption is maintained, section 50 application to the ICO.02 Oct 202610NoRefusal of 10 September withheld all seven questions under section 43(2) with a single argument. Review grounds: (1) the prejudice case covers application volumes, interview, offer and acceptance rates only, and never mentions a weighting, a scoring matrix, a GCSE scheme or a contextual reduction, so questions 4(b), 4(c), 5 and 6 are refused without reasons; (2) the University's own covering letter states it does not recruit international students to this award and that places are stipulated each year with the DfE and the Medical Schools Council, and OfS records a limit of 63, all home, so the competitive market the notice describes does not exist; (3) question 7 was refused as commercially sensitive although the OfS publishes the limit; (4) the University's published MBChB supplement states that the UCAT threshold is extended for widening participation candidates, so it advertises the concession while refusing to say its size; (5) both cycles are closed; (6) benchmarking by a competitor is not prejudice; (7) the public interest test lists four abstract factors for disclosure and seven for withholding, one of which is the ability to make strategic decisions without scrutiny. The policy the response pointed to contains none of the figures requested. Internal review window runs to 10 November. Checked again 22 September. The only substantive statement in the response that is not a refusal is that the University does not recruit international students to this award and that the number of places is set each year with the Department for Education and the Medical Schools Council. Everything else was refused under section 43(2). The intake figure held in the workbook comes from the Office for Students, not from Edge Hill.

Resent 15 September to foi@city.ac.uk. On 17 September at 15:55 the Information Assurance Team sought clarification under section 1(3) as FOI IRR0006408: which courses are meant by medicine and dentistry, noting the University has never offered dentistry, and what is meant by "scheme" at question 5. They also volunteered that A100 and A101 admission statistics are published on their website and that 2026 entry data is expected in December.Clarification sent 17 September: A100 and A101 only, no dentistry, no other courses; scheme means a formula or standard calculation; the published statistics answer part of question 1 but none of the UCAT detail; and the December publication date is after the UCAS deadline so the figures are asked for now. Under section 10(6)(b) the twenty working days run from the date the clarification is received, so the deadline should be confirmed once they acknowledge.15 Oct 202623NoWATCH TWO THINGS. First, they said that if they do not hear within one calendar month they will close the request, so the clarification had to go quickly. Second, the December publication date sets up a section 22 refusal for the 2026 entry cycle, which is the cycle that matters most. The counter to that is already in the clarification: December is two months after applicants have chosen.

Question 4: applications are ranked and the highest scoring invited until the interview places are filled, described as a cohort determined criterion. Question 5: no GCSE scheme, the GCSE requirement is a presence check. Question 6: no contextual route, but a lower UCAT threshold for Welsh-resident applicants. Question 7: 142 home and 12 international places for each of 2025, 2026 and 2027. Decile and quartile distributions recorded as not held; SJT recorded as not applicable. Two points to put back: the size of the Welsh-resident threshold reduction, and the minimum considered for the GAMSAT and MCAT routes on a comparable basis. Neither needs a review.YesThe fastest and one of the fullest responses of the campaign: requested 16 September, answered 22 September. Two findings worth carrying into other requests. First, Swansea gave means at BOTH stages without being pushed, and the mean at offer is no higher than the mean at interview in any group and lower in three of the four, which is direct evidence that the test decides the shortlist and the interview decides the offer. That is useful against any school claiming that releasing historic score data would let applicants game an offer. Second, Swansea answered plainly that it holds no decile or quartile distribution rather than reaching for an exemption, which is the same section 17 route Glasgow took and is worth citing where others refuse the distribution under section 43.

The request as sent cites the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and the subject line carries FOI_26-182, which is UEA's reference. Neither invalidates the request, because section 1 FOISA applies to any request in writing for recorded information and no Act need be named, but both are worth correcting so the request is logged properly. Scottish differences to hold in mind: there is no extension mechanism at all in FOISA, so a notice promising a response when ready is not a step the Act allows; a requirement for review under section 20 is mandatory before the Commissioner, and must be answered within 20 working days under section 21(1); the route after that is an application to the Scottish Information Commissioner under section 47, not the ICO. Runs both undergraduate medicine and dentistry, so this is the most valuable of the three schools that were never asked. ScotGEM is delivered with St Andrews, and the request asks for all courses offered, so the ScotGEM intake should fall inside this response.

The largest school on the outstanding list. Contact address was on the compiled FOI contact sheet from 13 August, marked verified, and the request simply was not sent in the August wave.

University of LincolnEnglandFOI202608180118 Aug 202619 Aug 202616 Sep 202617 Sep 202617 Sep 202615 Oct 202612 Nov 202615 Oct 2026Refused - internal review requestedResponse 17 September, one working day late. Cycle A refused as held by the University of Nottingham, which administered the joint school. Cycle B refused in full under section 43(2), applied as a single blanket across all seven questions with one public interest test. Their stated prejudice is to "recruitment and selection activity during a live admissions cycle", but the cycle requested closed at the October 2025 UCAS deadline. Signposted their own entry requirements page.Internal review sent 17 September to compliance@lincoln.ac.uk. Grounds: the refusal describes a live cycle that was not the one asked for; one exemption applied to seven different questions; question 7 refuses place numbers the Office for Students already publishes; home places are capped and international is five times oversubscribed, so no commercial prejudice arises. Offered to withdraw if the information arrives by 25 September. Fallback list included.25 Sep 20263YesThe Office for Students lists the school as "University of Nottingham: Lincoln Medical School (in partnership with University of Lincoln)" with a combined medical limit of 84, split into anticipated home and overseas. That corroborates their Cycle A answer and undermines their refusal of question 7.
University of SurreyEnglandNot requestedNot requestedNo request sent. Graduate entry medicine only, A101.Send the request to freedomofinformation@surrey.ac.uk, or via the OneTrust webform if the address bouncesYesADDRESS: freedomofinformation@surrey.ac.uk, Information Governance, Secretariat and Legal. Caution: this address is NOT published on Surrey's own FOI pages, which route requesters to a OneTrust webform instead. It was taken from an actual Surrey FOI response on WhatDoTheyKnow in June 2026, so it works, but keep the webform as a fallback: https://www.surrey.ac.uk/information-governance/freedom-information/make-request. Do not use dataprotection@surrey.ac.uk, which is a separate data protection address. The best target of the four: 34 funded home places, at least two complete cycles including home students, and nothing published.
University of Greater ManchesterEnglandNot requestedNot requestedNo request sent. Formerly the University of Bolton; renamed with Office for Students approval on 19 December 2024.Send the request to foi@greatermanchester.ac.ukYesADDRESS: foi@greatermanchester.ac.uk, Contracts and Legal Compliance Advisor, published unmasked at https://greatermanchester.ac.uk/freedom-of-information. WhatDoTheyKnow still lists the authority as University of Bolton. Not the University of Manchester, which is a separate authority with its own live request and internal review. One cycle completed, international only, no funded places, nothing published.
University of HertfordshireEnglandNot requestedNot requestedNo request sent. MBBS open to international students only for both 2026 and 2027 entry.Send the request to foi-request@herts.ac.ukYesADDRESS: foi-request@herts.ac.uk, Information Compliance Team, Legal and Compliance Services, published unmasked at https://www.herts.ac.uk/about-us/legal/freedom-of-information-data-protection/freedom-of-information. Internal review complaints go to legal@herts.ac.uk. An online form is also offered. Expect figures rounded to the nearest five, as in a previous release for another course, so ask them to state the rounding rule. Worth asking about the contradiction between the course page, which says accreditation is still being sought and sets out a transfer contingency to City St George's, and the medicine hub page, which says the MBBS is recognised by the GMC.
St Mary's University, TwickenhamEnglandNot requestedNot requestedNo request sent. MBBS open to international students only. First cohort started 14 September 2026.Send the request to foi@stmarys.ac.ukYesADDRESS: foi@stmarys.ac.uk, published unmasked at https://www.stmarys.ac.uk/about/corporate-information/freedom-of-information.aspx. Requests are addressed to the Clerk to the Governors; there is no named information officer. It is a public authority under the Act and appears on WhatDoTheyKnow with 284 requests logged, but none about medicine. Do not use med.admissions@stmarys.ac.uk, which is the admissions inbox. Same GMC contradiction as Hertfordshire: the course page describes accreditation as being sought, with a transfer contingency to the University of Lancashire, while the 2026-27 programme specification lists the GMC as an accreditation held.
Imperial College LondonEnglandIMPFOI-26-47508 Sep 202608 Sep 202618 Sep 202619 Sep 202619 Oct 202613 Nov 2026Internal review requested 19 SeptemberRefused in full as vexatious under section 14(1). Accepted that the request was made in good faith. No estimate of burden given, in hours, cost or description.Await the review of the section 14 refusal. Twenty working days takes it to 19 October.19 Oct 202627NoRaised as a clarification of IMPFOI-26-423 on 8 September, asking for three things the published material does not contain: the mean and distribution of UCAT scores and SJT bands at interview, the same at offer stage, and the standard against contextual split of applications, offers and acceptances with the number of contextual places. Imperial gave it a new reference and refused it as vexatious. The review points are that section 14(1) has no public interest test and the refusal carried one out; that no burden was quantified; that the original request had already offered a priority order under sections 12 and 16 and that offer was never taken up; and that treating the identification of gaps in a section 21 answer as vexatious would make a section 21 refusal unchallengeable.
