How this university scores applications, with the figures it publishes.
High level summary
Simple summary. Excruciating detail below.
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| Is there a score to clear? | No. The UCAT is folded into one overall score along with other things, so a lower UCAT can be offset by a stronger score elsewhere, and a high one can be dragged down the same way. |
| How to read the UCAT figures here | An average is published but no lowest score. You can see the middle of the successful range, not the bottom of it. |
| What else counts | GCSEs are scored. Good grades earn points here.
The SJT band is scored and adds to your total. |
Summary of the selection model
| Item | Detail |
|---|
| Scoring approach | Academic attainment is a gate, not a rank: Liverpool confirmed it does not rank applicants on grades and uses no points system for A200. At stage two, total UCAT and SJT band are scored and added, then combined with the non-academic information questionnaire, weighted 40 per cent to 60 per cent. The top scorers are interviewed and the offer depends solely on the interview score. Confirmed under FOI/2627/020 |
| UCAT | Required |
| UCAT threshold | No fixed threshold. The total UCAT and the SJT band are scored separately, added, then combined with the non-academic information questionnaire, with UCAT and SJT together carrying 40 per cent. Mean at interview 2025 entry, of 3600: 2671 home, 2589 contextual, 2624 international, which is about 1970, 1920 and 1930 on the current scale |
| UCAT lowest accepted | Unknown. Liverpool publishes the mean at interview but no lowest score. |
| UCAT average accepted | Mean at interview, 2025 entry, of 3600: 2671 home, 2589 contextual, 2624 international, which is about 1970, 1920 and 1930 on the current scale. |

Reading these tables
| Point | Detail |
|---|
| Suppression | Liverpool inserted 'fewer than 10' under section 40(2) wherever a cell held fewer than ten people |
| Header error in the source | Liverpool's offer-stage distribution tables still carry the column heading 'who were interviewed'. From their position in the response they are the offer-stage tables, and the totals are consistent with 96 home offers |
| Scale | All figures are September 2025 entry and therefore on the 3600 scale. Do not read them against 2700 scale figures without converting |
| Withheld | September 2026 entry refused under section 43(2); available to request from October 2026 |

The non-academic questionnaire, position for 2027 entry
STILL IN USE. Liverpool 2027 entry requirements page states that UCAT scores "will be considered along with the non-academic questionnaire and academic attainments", so the questionnaire survives into this cycle. What is NOT confirmed for 2027 is the 60 per cent weighting and the dates. For 2026 entry the questionnaire was sent to the email address on the UCAS application between 1 October and 15 November, applicants were given two weeks to return it, and failure to return it by the deadline resulted in rejection. If that pattern repeats, applicants must watch the inbox they gave UCAS from 1 October. The detailed 2027 admissions page cannot be read automatically, so the weighting and dates need checking by hand or asking Liverpool directly.
DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH MEDICINE. A100 has no scored questionnaire. Its A100 Departmental Supplement for 2027 entry, last reviewed 16 September 2026, sets out a four stage process: rank on admissions test, academic criteria, MMI, then offers. Liverpool does ask some A100 applicants to complete "Form A", but only those resitting examinations or declaring extenuating circumstances, and it is not a scored component for everyone.
