BM BS Medicine (A100)
How this university scores applications, with the figures it publishes.
High level summary
Simple summary. Excruciating detail below.
| Question | Answer |
|---|
| Is there a score to clear? | Yes. The university publishes a number, further down this page. Miss it and you are not shortlisted. It is reset every year, so last year’s figure is a guide, not a promise. |
| How to read the UCAT figures here | Only the lowest score is published. It belongs to one applicant, usually one who was strong somewhere else. Matching it is not the same as being competitive. |
| What else counts | GCSEs are a gate. Meeting the minimum is what counts; beating it earns nothing.
The SJT band is a gate. Clear it; a better band earns nothing more. |
Summary of the selection model
| Item | Detail |
|---|
| Scoring approach | Every application is contextualised - grades are compared to the applicant's school average, so the standard offer and the contextual offer are both AAB. CASPer replaces UCAT for graduates and international applicants. Personal statement used for borderline candidates and read positively only |
| UCAT - how it is used | UCAT required of EVERY applicant group, graduates included, and it must be sat in the year of application. Casper is an additional assessment used at stage 2b for certain groups, not a substitute for the UCAT. KMMS also applies an SJT band minimum, which differs by group. |
| UCAT threshold | A threshold IS published, contrary to the earlier entry here. School leavers (groups A and B): total 2490 or above plus SJT band 3 or above. Graduates (group D): total 2490 or above plus SJT band 2 or above. KMMS states expressly that it does not commit to the same or a similar threshold for 2027 entry. |
| UCAT lowest accepted | 2490 of 3600 for school leavers in groups A and B, plus SJT band 3 or above. The same 2490 applies to graduates in group D. About 1840 on the current scale |
| UCAT average accepted | Unknown |
| Interview format | Online and in-person MMI |
| Contextual offer | Contextualise-everyone policy; no lower offers made because AAB applies to all |
| Resits | Not accepted at Level 3 except through the extenuating circumstances process |
| Data status | Taken from the school's own admissions pages |

The published threshold, and what it is worth
| Group | Total UCAT | SJT minimum | Scale | Percentile | Decile band | Equivalent /2700 | Entry year |
|---|
| School leavers (groups A and B) | 2490 | Band 3 | of 3600 | 46th | 5th | 1840 | September 2025 |
| Graduates (group D) | 2490 | Band 2 | of 3600 | 46th | 5th | 1840 | September 2025 |
WHICH CYCLE THIS BELONGS TO. KMMS describes the figure as applying "in 2025-6" but also says 2490 corresponds to the 47th centile of 2024 UCAT candidates. The decile tables on this workbook put 2490 at the 46.2nd percentile of the 2024 test cycle, which matches to within a point, so the figure is a 3600-scale score from the 2024 test cycle and belongs to entry in September 2025. Anyone reading 2490 against a 2700-scale score would be badly misled. The equivalent on the current scale is about 1840, the 5th decile. KMMS has not published a 2027 threshold and has said in terms that it is not bound by this one.

How the UCAT is turned into a score
| Item | Detail |
|---|
| Is a UCAT points conversion published? | No points conversion has been published. What the University does say about the UCAT is in the row below. |
